Game 4 Summary

Since I wasn't in attendance for this game I will have to go by what my scorekeeper texted me while I was at a communion party. St. Lukes lefty pitcher Sanicola made his first pitching start of the season. He pitched a solid 4 innings while allowing 3 earned runs and striking out 9 Queen of Peace batters. He did a great job keeping us in the game. But with St. Lukes down 5-1 in the bottom of the 4th inning, the bats exploded with both Cutolo (solo shot) and Loria (2 run HR) hitting the first HRs of the season. Then Lardas came in to relieve Sanicola and pitched a solid 3 innings. The key player for this game was catcher Dilos. Not only did he throw out multiple runners attempting to steal, but had the game winning hit (2 rbi single).

Game 5 Summary

After the great come from behind victory in game 1, St. Lukes came out firing in game 2 of this double dip. Hits by Nagle, Guarneri, Cutolo, and Loria gave St. Lukes a quick 3 run lead. Nagle also made his first pitching start of the season. Dilos continued his great defense behind the plate by throwing out a few more runners and calling a great game for both pitchers Nagle and Guarneri. Kemon Lardas continued being productive and drove in 2 of the 5 runs. Guarneri relieved Nagle and pitched a solid 3 and 1/3 innings, only allowing a season low 2 walks. But one these walks came around to score and tied the game. The game was suspended after 5 innings and will hopefully be completed at a later date.

Game 3 Summary

This day started out rainy and chilly but turned into a beautiful day for baseball, St. Lukes and John Guarneri. The defense set the tone early

by 3rd basemen Elliot with a nice play made for the 3rd out of the 1st inning. On the offensive side, St. Lukes for the 3rd straight game scored 2 runs in their half of the 1st inning. Nagle and Lardas scored runs on a Cutolo laser beam single into LF. The St. Lukes offense added 3 more runs in the 2nd inning led by St. Lukes first basemen Sanicola who had a well-placed two run single into RF. On the pitching side Guarneri kept the St. Margaret hitters confused and off-balance with the combination of his well placed fastball and devastating curveball. John was helped by his gold-glove caliber defense behind him led by Shortstop Lardas who made several fine plays through-out the game and Dilos whos solid catching skills helped contain the St. Margaret's running game. St. Lukes added runs in the 3rd and 4th innings and cruised to the 7-3 victory.

Game 2 Summary

St. Lukes 8th grade played a solid all around team game in the victory vs St. Kevins.

St. Lukes set the tone in the top of the 1st inning by stranding runners at 2nd & 3rd. Montalvo had a nice play at 1B for the 1st out of the game. St. Lukes again started off fast with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Lardas drove in Nagle on a productive out to 2B and Guarneri scored on a wild-pitch. The offense exploded in the 2nd inning with 6 runs led by a 3 run bases-loaded triple by Ramnarayan. Elliot, Fiocca and Petraglia also had hits during the inning.

On the pitching side Ramnarayan pitched a gem. During his 6 innings he allowed 1 run and 1 hit with only 3 walks and 7 strikouts.

Dilos, Petraglia, Fiocca and Guarneri also provided solid up the middle defense during the game.

Game 1 Summary

In the coldest game I have ever participated in (either playing or coaching) both teams braved the winter temps and nor easter type winds.

St. Lukes started off fast with 2 runs in the top of the 1st inning. A walk and steal by Lardas combined with Guarneri reaching base on an E5, Lardas came around to score the seasons 1st run. Then Guarneri came around

to score on a solid

Ramnarayan single.

But that was the extent of the St.Lukes offense on this cold day.

On the pitching side both Guarneri & Lardas pitched a solid 3 innings. Guarneri & Lardas kept the St. Joe hitters off balance with their breaking pitches and Lardas had 8 Ks over his 3 innings.
